CBO Estimate: The Congressional Budget Office estimated that making Medicaid expansion optional will save the federal government $84 billion over the next decade but will also mean that 3 million people will not be insured. The CBO also estimated that repealing the law would increase the federal deficit by $109 billion over the next decade, reports Julie Rovner for NPR.
Medicaid Cuts: Thirteen states are making cuts to Medicaid to help balance their budgets. These cuts come on top of extensive reductions last year, Phil Galewitz and Matthew Fleming report for Kaiser Health News.
