CBO Estimate: The Congressional Budget Office estimated that making Medicaid expansion optional will save the federal government $84 billion over the next decade but will also mean that 3 million people will not be insured. The CBO also estimated that repealing the law would increase the federal deficit by $109 billion over the next decade, reports Julie Rovner for NPR.
