bacon, pancreatic cancer, health journalism, reporting on health
Pancreatic Cancer: Say it ain't so! Eating bacon or other cured breakfast meats can raise your risk of pancreatic cancer, researchers report. Somehow, results for steak and other red meats are inconclusive, Ryan Jaslow reports for CBS.

Health Spending: A jaw-dropping 21.8 percent of all U.S. health spending is devoted to just one percent of the population, Julie Rovner reports for NPR.

Polio: India is celebrating a milestone in polio eradication as the country has seen no new cases of the disease in the past year, but the World Health Organization is warning against complacency, Nita Bhalla reports for AlertNet.

Smoking: The University of California system will ban smoking and tobacco products on campus over the next two years to protect students and staff from secondhand smoke and prevent young people from taking the habit, Erin Allday reports for the San Francisco Chronicle.

I think we all know bacon isn't good for you, but how did researchers control for other factors in this study? I'm feeling a bit skeptical about a direct causal relationship between bacon and cancer here.

Just read the bacon link. So those 2 strips of bacon every six months or so won't be an issue. Whew.
