Biography
Bennie Ford has lived in Watts his entire life. Mr. Ford graduated from Compton High School and started working for LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program when he was in the eleventh grade. Mr. Ford has worked for LA's BEST for more than a dozen years and has been the site coordinator at Grape Street Elementary School in Watts for three years. His dedication to promoting safety and greater equity in his community led to the creation of a drum line in LA's BEST program, in which children and staff marched through the housing projects to bringpeople together through music.
