Biography
Chanchanit Martorell is the founder and executive director of the Thai Community Development Center in Los Angeles. She founded Thai CDC in 1994 to improve the lives of Thai immigrants by providing services that promote cultural adjustment and economic selfsufficiency. She previously worked as a planner and as a local, state and Congressional legislative aide. She has taught a course on the Thai-American experience at UCLA and has written on the topics of Asian poverty, community economic development, and urban revitalization strategies. Ms. Martorell received a master's degree in urban planning, with a specialization in urban regional development, from UCLA.
