Peter Yellowlees
Biography
Dr. Peter Yellowlees is a psychiatry professor and director of Academic Information Systems at UC Davis. His main interests are in improving access to health and education services using information technologies. After medical training in London, he worked in Australia for 20 years, then moved to UC Davis to continue his research in telemedicine and e-health. He has an international reputation in telemedicine and long-distance health and education delivery. His current research projects involve robotic surgery, electronic record implementation, data mining and disease management protocols, use of virtual reality for health education on the Internet, electronic death record certification processes, and Internet, e-mail and video consultation services. Yellowlees is a psychiatrist who has worked in the public and private sectors, in academia and in rural settings. He has published three books and more than 100 articles and book chapters and has been a consultant to governments and private companies in several countries.
