    Stephen Bender is a professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at SDSU's Graduate School of Public Health. He has been a member of the SDSU faculty for more than 30 years. During his tenure at SDSU, Bender has published numerous articles in scholarly journals, authored five books and been the recipient of over $6 million in grant/contract awards. He was the founding head of the division of health promotion at the Graduate School of Public Health and has served as associate director and acting director of the school. Bender currently serves as the president of the nonprofit Center for Injury Prevention, which houses the nationally and internationally acclaimed RaceLegal.com program, Cops Racing Against Racers program and the Center for Health Promotion and Risk Reduction. The center works to promote safer alternatives to illegal street racing. Bender received his M.P.H. from UCLA in 1982.
