About Myself

Laura Starecheski is based in the Bronx and produces audio for public radio, museums, magazines and other outlets. She has produced for The World, Studio 360, and WBEZ's Chicago Matters series, among others. She won a Third Coast Silver Award for Best Documentary in 2006 for her story "Goat on a Cow", which aired on WNYC's Radio Lab. Most recently, Laura directed North Country Public Radio's Common Wealth, Common Wisdom project, which united rural teenagers with Depression-era elders in an intergenerational multimedia workshop. Making a Difference

I'm currently finishing a Master's thesis on schizophrenia and public identity in the US, and am in production on a series of radio profiles of immigrants struggling with mental illness.
