About Myself

I am the Outreach Coordinator for KQED Public Radio’s Health Dialogues, where I also report for the web and radio. I am also a radio and web producer for KPFA radio's Voices of the Middle East and North Africa (VOMENA). Recent productions include an audio slideshow looking at addiction in Los Angeles’ Skid Row (KQED: 'Serving Skid Row' and 'Web Extra'), and an audio postcard of an undocumented immigrant talking about barriers in access to health care (KQED). I am currently working on series looking at health impacts of environment in various Middle Eastern countries including Iraq and Lebanon. My focus is in health disparities and health policy, with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern, North African, & Latino communities. A Philosophy & Spanish Studies graduate from UC Santa Cruz, I received a Masters degree in multimedia health and medicine reporting from The City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Journalism in 2007. I am recently the proud recipient of the 2009 California Health Journalism Fellowship.
